Two Old Rocking Chairs

Two old rocking chairs
sitting on the front porch
Cobwebs around the corner
Place hasn’t been swept in months
But this is where they sat
When the day came to an end
Watched the stars break through the night
As they talked about their kin

And reminisced about the good old days
Look at the yard where young boys played
And he just sighs
Turns to look at his love on his right side...

This is the house they built,
This is the place they lived their lives
And on that front porch
Many a day and night
They recognized that the days would come to an end
Reach out and take each other‘s hand

Side by side
Now they’re gone, but sometimes, late at night
If you look up to the skies
You’ll see a taste of heaven, and two stars shining extra bright

Beautiful Scars

It's a journey many of us have faced.  We fight in silence so many times, but yet it is real.  It can consume, it can tear us apart or it might just make us stronger, better, more aware of how precious life is.  This is for another soul who has struggled as I have and has come away with Beautiful Scars...

The fear is real
Those moments She’s faced the ending
The hopelessness while others just pretended
To understand

Her pain is real
Hid inside a pretty face
Anxiety that gnaws at the sanest parts of her brain
Yet so many can’t relate

She has beautiful scars
Across her still beating heart
And why she hasn’t withered
Is amazing to watch
She has beautiful scars
Sadness filled with those parts
That most can’t understand
But she still stands

Race across the continent
Erase the tears she’s cried
Put to bed, learn to ease
Those demons that just won’t hide

She won’t pretend
To be Mary Poppins
Or one of those trite girls from ‘Friends’

Her hope is real
And the wind blows through her hair
She stands in the cool spring morning...
every shiver makes her aware

Breathes deep, longing pure peace
Amidst her beautiful scars

She has beautiful scars
